by posted 06/14/2021

Eagles Nation! Don’t forget to stop down to Rockland ice rink to scoop up your green biscuit to kick off the 2021 “Summer Sniper Challange”

South Shore Eagles 2021 Summer Sniper Challenge

Welcome to the South Shore Eagles – Summer Sniper Challenge. Off-ice shooting and stickhandling is an easy, fast, fun and free way to improve your skills in the off-season! This challenge is for any U8-U14 player or goalie registered for the 2021/2022 season.

The program was created as a development opportunity for hockey players to improve their shooting & scoring skills at home. When you practice a little each day, it’s amazing how much improvement can happen over a few months.

OBJECTIVE: To improve your shooting and stickhandling by putting in quality reps.

The challenge will run from June 14 – September 3rd.

2021 SUMMER SNIPER CHALLENGE GOALS BY AGE

14U - 5,000 shots (60 shots/day avg.)

12U - 4,000 shots (50 shots/day avg.)

10U - 3,000 shots (35 shots/day avg.)

8U - 2,000 shots (25 shots/day avg.)

For goalies, shooting pucks or saving pucks shot on them count.

SUGGESTIONS FOR SUCCESS

1. Have 5-10 hockey pucks or off ice training pucks ready to go.

2. Have a designated area for shooting with a relatively smooth surface.

3. Plan ahead to complete a certain amount of shots per day. It will be difficult to complete if you delay starting.

4. Set up a net, targets, plywood or something to aim at when shooting.

5. All shots count! Wrist shots, snap shots, slap shots, back hands and one timers are all good options. Practice shooting to different locations of your target.

6. Remember proper form, and challenge yourself, move farther away, or shoot from different locations. Keep quickness, accuracy and moving around in mind while practicing . Have fun and good luck!
